Las Vegas Has Started Saying Goodbye To The Tropicana
It’s getting to be that time where we have to say so long to another classic casino as Las Vegas has started saying goodbye to the Tropicana! The Mike & Carla Morning Show brought this up this morning that on April 1st, the Tropicana is done, over! Built in 1957, this casino/hotel is one more that will be gone from the Las Vegas landscape!
Now a lot of us are thinking that this is where the new 30,000 seat ballpark will go. However, nothing has been finalized as of yet, so that is still up in the air. But despite that, The M&C Morning Show wanted to let listeners share their memories of this long time staple at the south end of the Strip.
It’s Goodbye To Another Las Vegas Casino-Hotel
Even Mike O’Brian and Carla Rea had their own great memories of the Trop to share. Mike talking about hosting hundreds of comedy nights at the Comedy Stop at the Trop inside the hotel. Carla Rea talked about working the same club many times. In fact, that where she met a lot of her comedy friends that she still has to this day.
Carla also mentioned how she caught Slash, of Guns ‘N Roses, playing with the lounge band a couple of nights after one of her gigs at the comedy club. No one really noticing that it was really Slash up there. Probably one of the main reasons he did it…and many other did!
It was quite the place and still is for that matter, but it was great hearing listeners share their stories about the place. One guy talking about his visits and requesting the Frank Sinatra suite! And memories of the great buffet they had there for many years.
Take a couple of minutes, listen to the segment. If you have any memories you’d like to share, then by all means, let us know…and enjoy!
