Planning to donate funds this month for childhood cancer? There's a way to make sure it goes to our local kids.

The Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is Southern Nevada's only pediatric cancer and rare disease treatment center. They accept all patients from Nevada and nearby states who have been diagnosed with cancer. Even if they don't have medical insurance. In an average year, C4K sees approximately 5,000 children affected by cancer or rare diseases. C4K’s Charity Care Program ensures that every child in need of pediatric cancer or rare disease treatment receives it.

C4K is also is a proud member of the Children’s Oncology Group. Which is the world’s leading organization of childhood cancer physicians and treatment centers. Because of this affiliation, C4K is the only treatment center in Southern Nevada that can provide patients with access to promising clinical trials. These trials often lead the way to better and more successful treatments.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

So this month shoppers will probably see a lot of retail outlets and television ads asking you to donate money for childhood cancer causes. And while it's always admirable to help where you can, it's possible some or none of the money donated that way will ever help one of our children here in Southern Nevada.

For that reason, the Cure 4 The Kids Foundation is kicking off their “Keep It Local $100,000 Challenge” during the entire month of September. C4K is asking Nevada residents to help keep donated funds local this month by donating directly to C4K. Donations can be made to Cure 4 The Kids Foundation at cure4thekids.org/donate.

By donating directly to the foundation, you can be sure your money is helping a child here in Southern Nevada. Donations given to national childhood cancer causes do not benefit C4K and do not provide funds to cover the cost of treatment for children in our communities.

Beyond donating directly on their website at cure4thekids.org/donate, there are other ways to help. Including purchasing supplies from the C4K Amazon wishlist at amzn.to/3Ei5GyT. Or linking your Smith’s loyalty card to C4K at bit.ly/45PCkDN.

Another way to help is by participating in the upcoming Golf 4 The Kids event on October 30, 2023. You can get details and purchase tickets here. bit.ly/3sD0V0n.
