We all have a waffle maker and have probably used it for more than just making waffles. But imagine the sizzling of ramen noodles and the comforting warmth of waffles coming together in a mouthwatering union.

We've seen people make eggs on them, hash browns that look like waffles when they're finished cooking. And probably the most popular: pizza waffles. Just when you thought the waffle craze was dying down, TikTok delivered to us the ramen waffle!

It's So Easy To Make

TikTok is known for its viral videos, food hacks, and more. When Ramen Waffles hit TikTok, the world went into a frenzy. Literally the simplest recipe to make. And the best part about Ramen Waffles, they don't need to be sweet. Sweet or savory, it's all up to your imagination.

First you need to boil your favorite ramen noodles. Just take the hardened brick of ramen noodles and boil them in a pot. Once they're cooked, you strain the noodles from the water and pile them into your waffle maker. Some videos show people pouring a little waffle batter on the noodles for more of a standout waffle shape. Other are shown just throwing the ramen noodles on the waffle maker and cooking them that way. Whatever way you choose, the end result is a waffle made up of noodles. It doesn't look pretty, but after adding your favorite topping to it, it apparently tastes delicious.

People Are Making It Their Own

Like I mentioned above, sweet or savory, people are adding all types of toppings on it. People plopped candies, syrups, and other sweet treats to savory items like Sriracha (If you're lucky enough to find it in stores), cheeses, meats and much more on their own waffles. This trend is obviously not for everyone. But, for those who are adventurous, it may be something you end up loving and cooking on the regular.

Mashed.com came up with some good combinations to make your ramen waffle. They suggested ingredients like black vinegar, chili oils, and soy sauce for the savory lovers. They even suggest using the ramen waffle as a bread substitute for your breakfast or lunch sandwich. Slap on a burger patty, sausage patty, eggs, and cheese, and you got yourself a sandwich!

Will you try this new TikTok trend? At least this one won't send you to the hospital. We have more on this story in today's edition of a Few Things You Should Know!

Broke til payday - what are we eating?

Mike and Carla are always talking about weird food - but do you have a go-to cheap and easy meal? The cost of living just seems to keep going up, and a lot of people are cutting corners. The number of Americans facing financial hardship has gone up: six in ten US adults are struggling. If you're not now, chances are you did at one time.

So how how do people get through difficult times? Ask your college kids. If you were in college, or lived on your own out of high school, you had some favorite - or some regular - "broke till payday" meals. Reddit has an interesting thread on this.

"Groceries are scarce and I'm waiting on payday," they wrote. What are you making that's still  relatively healthy with what you have left in your fridge? Everyone has different items in their fridge, so there are a lot of interesting ideas that may be helpful for anyone out there. And there are some things that actually sound really good.

Ramen -always a go to for college students - is still relatively cheap. But you can't just live on Ramen, and Cup of Noodles. Ok, maybe YOU can...  However, you might be able to zhush them up a little, right?  And you might be surprised at some of the great - and interesting - cuisine below.

Don't knock any of it til you try it. I mean, think about it: SOMEONE (through trial and error) was the first to try an artichoke - and finally figure out what part you were supposed to eat. "Oh, okay - Bob, don't eat the thorns. Flip it to the other side!"

You never know what the next artichoke might be, until you figure it out. So look at some of these, and see what you think. Not only might they save you money, but they might actually be GOOD!
