9-Year-Old Filipino Girl Has Scissors Stuck In Head For A Week
A 9-year-old girl from the Philippines is recovering after having scissors lodged in her head for a week.
How Did This Happen?
Nicole Raga is a 9-year-old Filipino girl who had scissors lodged in her head. She had an argument with her brother, who is 5-years-old. They were fighting over a pencil. Her brother grabbed his backpack and used it to defend himself. He hit her over her head with it. The scissors in the bag somehow were exposed and stabbed Nicole in the head!
Their father Rene Boy told NDTV, “Sharp objects like scissors or knives must be kept away from children.” Rene saw the scissors stuck in his daughters head, he immediately rushed her to the hospital. Doctors watched over Nicole carefully to make sure nothing else happened. The hospital told her father that it would cost them 30,000 PHP to remove the scissors. That’s about $540 US Dollars.
Why Did It Take A Week To Get The Scissors Removed?
After finding out how much it would cost to removed the scissors from Nicole’s skull, he immediately said he could not afford it, but could have the money later on.
Nicole spent the rest of the week in the hospital under watch. She eventually had the surgery on July 9th, a week later. Her father worked and also received donations from locals who were concerned for Nicole.
A full recovery is expected, but Nicole will need to be very careful when doing things for a bit. Doctors said there is no damage done to her brain. The outer wounds will heal and should be back to normal fairly quick. Good news all around for Nicole. Her father said he was very grateful that Nicole is going to be fine and thankful for those who donated to help pay for the procedure.
