Median Age In U.S. Hits An All-Time High

The population in our country is constantly growing! It is now older than ever!

The median age in the US reached an all-time high in 2022. It is now 38.9 years of age! That increases by about 3.5 years since 2000! So every year, it has gone up 0.2 in the past alone.

What does this mean? Well last year, more births happened in the US than deaths. That’s a positive. But it still wasn’t enough to shift the pattern, according to the Census Bureau estimates. The Census also showed that the birth rate has declined in the past years. During the pandemic, there was a big drop, with a very minimal increase the year after the pandemic.

So how do we fix it? Kristie Wilder, who’s a demographer with the Census Bureau said to CNN, “Without a rapidly growing young population, the US median age will likely continue its slow but steady rise.”

And the results from the Census also show that there’s growing diversity in the US population!

Earn $127,000 A Year To Be A Billionaire's Dog Nanny

Are you looking for a new job? Do you absolutely love dogs, and believe they are a member of your family? If so here is your DREAM job.

If you treat your own dogs like royalty, this job’s for you. A billionaire in the U.K. is hiring a live-in DOG NANNY to take care of the family’s two dogs.  You can apply online.  It pays $127,000 a year!

The position, posted by Fairfax and Kensington household staffing agency, explains that the person selected would live with the family in Knightsbridge district in London and “provide unparalleled care and attention to the dogs, treating them as valued members of the family.”

According to the recruiter, this is the first time their agency has posted a dog-nanny job. Since going up just last week, the posting has already seen nearly 400 potential candidates.

You’d have to move to the U.K., and be cool with traveling the world, on their dime, every now and then  (I’m listening).  You can read the whole job listing here and apply online too if you are interested.

Here are the details:

1.  The family has two “beloved dogs” that require “top-tier care” and must be treated like “valued members of the family.”

2.  They’re looking for a live-in dog nanny.  So you’d be staying in their mansion, or some sort of guest house situation rent-free.  (Still listening)

3.  You’ll need to coordinate all vet appointments, keep detailed records of their health and medical history, and develop a, quote, “personalized exercise regimen” for each dog.  ( Pilates and a light jog?)

4.  You’ll need to accompany them on domestic and international trips, and arrange things like pet-friendly accommodations.

5.  You’ll be organizing “playdates” with other dogs and finding, quote, “enriching activities to stimulate their senses.”

6.  And you’ll also handle all the normal stuff that comes with having a dog.  Like feeding and bathing them.

The ideal candidate has lots of experience with dogs – preferably other RICH PEOPLE’S dogs. You also have to be willing to work irregular hours, like weekends and holidays.  And you need a driver’s license so you can chauffer them around to their playdates, appointments, etc.

George Dunn, the recruiter, says the person “would be not too big of a character and be good at blending into the background then popping out when required.”

One of his Jack Russells, Tigga, became somewhat of a canine celebrity in the ’90s, often posing with princes Harry and William in official family Christmas cards. He lived to be an astounding 18 years old.
