Bill Gates Donating $20 Billion To Foundation
One of the richest people in the world, Bill Gates said Wednesday that he will be donating $20 Billion dollars to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The foundation was launched back in 2000. At the time, the foundation was the worlds wealthiest philanthropic organizations.
In 2008, Gates gave up is job at Microsoft so he could work more with the nonprofit. He said that there have been so many global setbacks over the past few years that it’s discouraged people and has them wondering if things will get worse down the road. He wants to makes sure the foundation is prepared and ready to help when needed.
Gates says that by donating more this month, that will allow the spending of the foundation to be higher to help more people. He hopes the amount he donates this month will allow them to bump the foundations endowment to about $70 Billion.
