Is It Generosity, Or Have People Gone Overboard For Las Vegas Employee?

A  grateful Burger King employee at the Las Vegas airport received a gift bag for 27 years on the job without missing a day.  It included things like a lanyard, some pens, and two rolls of Lifesavers. A lot of people said "THAT'S ALL???"

Since he's in the airport, he actually works for the company HMS Host, which contracts him out to Burger King.  And even though HE was grateful, people online thought he deserved more.  So someone started a GoFundMe for him.  As of this posting, it is up to $237,000!

Burger King worker Kevin Ford is 60 years old. Ford thanked people for their generosity and said that he would be using the money to visit his grandkids and to help pay for some of their college.

A video of Ford went viral earlier this week as he received gifts including a movie ticket, bag of Reese's Pieces and some pens for his 27 years of dedication. His daughter started a GoFundMe for anyone who would like to donate to help him raise enough money to visit his grandkids. She said he never missed a day and started at the company to gain custody of her and her sister and all his kids through college on the salary.

More than 7,400 have donated. Comedian David Spade surprised the hardworking Burger King employee with a $5,000 donation on Thursday.

All of this is amazing, and he definitely deserved a lot more than movie tickets, and Reese's, but what are your thoughts? I'm sure I'll be criticized for asking, but is the generosity well deserved or have people gone overboard? Has GoFundMe just turned into a way for strangers to feel good about contributing to something? Or was GoFundMe a long time coming for people who really need help?

Fourth of July in Las Vegas: What's a better way to celebrate our freedom than in the city that showcases the best of American culture -- in our humble opinion, of course.

During this time, the skyline on the Vegas Strip is dotted with trails of bursting light and sparkles that rupture in the atmosphere. And it's not only The Strip that looks chaotic.

Fireworks streak the suburban sky, creating hazy smoke and glittering explosions that can be seen and heard across the Vegas Valley.

As true Vegas locals, we can also tell that Independence Day is among us when booths selling "safe and sane" fireworks sprout in inconspicuous parking lots across town. Illegal fireworks in Clark County include fire crackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets and roman candles.

In fact, Clark County only allows "safe and sane" fireworks from June 28 to July 4, according to the county's website. Fireworks are NOT allowed after midnight on July 4.

Along with this, no fireworks of any kind are allowed on federal land, which includes Red Rock, Mt. Charleston and Lake Mead.

Simply put, let's try to avoid starting a massive fire due to your holiday celebrations.

In 2021, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue responded to 146 calls during July 4 of last year. In total, Clark County received 200 calls for fire, according to a report from KSNV.

If you plan to set off those "safe and sane" fireworks that you purchased, Clark County has a few tips that could potentially save you, and especially your property, from igniting into flames.

With all of this being said, maybe it's best to leave the fireworks up to the professionals. And this is why we compiled a list of fireworks and holiday celebrations happening on July 4!

The show will start at 8 p.m. on July 4.  There are a few prime viewing spots, which you can see below.

Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino, Palace Station, Sunset Station, Santa Fe Station, and Boulder Station will all have coordinated firework shows, making it "one of the largest displays in the city," according to the company's website. All shows will start at 9 p.m.

Lake Las Vegas will be hosting a free fireworks show on July 4 at 9 p.m.

The celebrations will be held July 3 and 4 at the Southern Paiute Veterans Memorial Park in Moapa, Nevada. The party starts at 6 p.m. with free admission, food vendors, live music and a fireworks show.

The festivities are on July 4 with the parade starting at 9 a.m. in Boulder City. This parade and celebration are part of a long-standing tradition in the city.

The popular entertainment venue will host a plethora of activities, live music and more during this weekend. There'll be a block party, a silent disco and themed cocktails for the holiday.

The "Rockets Over The Red Mesa" show starts at 9 p.m. on July 4.

Throughout the weekend, The Las Vegas Aviators will host post-game "fireworks spectacular." On July 4, the Nitro Circus will be performing, which is a daredevil/stunt show.
