About
I can’t tell you how pumped I am to be on the air at 96.3 KKLZ. I love the music we play and Las Vegas holds a special place in my heart. It was my mother’s favorite city to escape to. She would fly all the way from Maine to see Big Elvis and the Everly Brothers. She’d hit the buffets and lose a fortune on the slots.
Near the end of her life, my mother scared the family by disappearing and flying to Vegas by herself in her wheelchair. I’m so glad she did it though. She didn’t treat herself to thinks like that enough. She was the most selfless human I’ve ever met.
When I was told I got the job to be on the air here at 96.3 KKLZ, I can’t tell you how bad I wished I could’ve called her to let her know the news. “Ma! I’m on the #1 rated radio station in Vegas!” She would’ve flipped. Even though she could stream the show, I’m sure she would’ve booked the next flight to Harry Reid so she could rent a car and listen over the air. She was my biggest fan and I’d never have made it this far in my career without her.
More About Geno:
As an ’80s kid, I’m so excited to be 96.3 KKLZ. I’m a hockey and football nut, love to travel (Europe especially), and a big music nerd. I went to the When We Were Young Festival to rock out with Blink 182 and Green Day here in Vegas last year. But I’ve seen everyone from Metallica to Sinatra to Bon Jovi to the New Kids to BB King to Neil Diamond.
And check out my dad bod. If you find me a good place around here for wings, burgers, Mexican or chicken parmesan, we’ll pretty much be best friends. BTW, feel free to add me as a friend on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
My resume is wacky. Don’t mean to brag, but I was Rookie of the Month at McDonald’s on St. John Street in Portland, Maine in the summer of 1989. And then after college, I was a pro wrestling ring announcer. But the WWF didn’t want me because I’m 6’4″ and I made the wrestlers look tiny. Oops.
I began working in radio in high school for fun on my hometown Top 40 station “Thunder 107” in Portland, Maine. The first song I ever played on the radio? “Ice Ice Baby.” I really never thought it’d be something I would be able to make a living doing. So I feel super lucky. And being lucky in Las Vegas is a good and rare thing.
Since then I’ve worked a bunch of stations around the country including KHOP @ 95-1 in the California Central Valley, Q105 and 99.5 WQYK in Tampa, WROR, WBCN, and 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston. But now, catch weekday afternoons on 96.3 KKLZ.
