  • Foreigner

The classic rock band issued a lengthy statement in response to their Rock Hall nomination. In the statement was a personal statement from guitarist/founding member Mick Jones. He said, in part, “I deeply appreciate the recognition from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame committee … Getting this news today is an incredible endorsement of what we have achieved over time.”

Foreigner has been one of the Rock Hall’s most notable snubs over the years. The band has been eligible since 2003, and this is their first nomination.

  • Mariah Carey

The pop/R&B icon took to social media and wrote, “Beyond excited and thrilled to be among these legendary nominees for this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Congratulations to all!”

Fellow nominee Lenny Kravitz jumped into the comments and wrote, “Congratulations! We’ve come a long way. Honored to share yet another experience with you.”

Carey has been eligible for induction since 2016. This is her first nomination.

  • Lenny Kravitz

Speaking of Kravitz, the rocker reacted to his Rock Hall nomination by writing on social media, “Woke up to this! Grateful to be nominated for this prestigious honor, @rockhall.”

Kravitz has been eligible for induction since 2014. This is his first nomination.

  • Oasis

The only reaction to Oasis’ nomination came from singer Liam Gallagher. He wrote via

Fuck the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG x

    — Liam Gallagher (@liamgallagher) February 12, 2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">X (formerly Twitter), “F— the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS.”

This is the first nomination for Oasis, who have been eligible for induction since 2020. If they do end up getting enough votes for the 2024 class, here’s hoping the band sends a letter similar to what the Sex Pistols did when they were inducted in 2006.

    …Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall.”

  • Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band took to social media to express being “thrilled” over the nomination. The band also plugged the Fan Vote, which the band famously won when they were first nominated in 2020.

DMB fans were very colorful in the comments of their social media post. One fan wrote, “If you don’t get it this year…I will kick out all the windows and send fire through this life.” Meanwhile, another wrote, “WE RIDE AT DAWN.”

  • Peter Frampton

Another long-overlooked first-time nominee in 2024 was Peter Frampton. The guitar icon shared two social media posts. In the first one, he playfully wrote, “That’s really great! Wait, you mean I’m not already in the @rockhall?!”

Frampton fleshed out his feelings in a follow-up post. He wrote, “Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m thrilled to be nominated for induction into the @rockhall. For a long time you, my friends, have been telling me I should be in it. So now that I’m nominated, I’m going to ask you a huge favor. Please vote for me (a lot) at vote.rockhall.com and let’s get this done! Then I’ll see you in Cleveland this Fall. Thank you all!”

  • Ozzy Osbourne

The Prince of Darkness was grateful for his nomination. He wrote in a statement, “I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. After 44 years as a solo artist the fact that I can continue to record music and receive this recognition is something I am incredibly proud of.”
