There are definitely a lot more “National this and that” days then there were when I was growing up. Some of them are legit, some are just for plain old fun, and on some of them, you get free stuff – and we’re all down for that!

Today might as well be Christmas for many people, because it’s probably just as important to them. It’s National Coffee Day!

Coffee consumption in the U.S. is at a two-decade high.  Two-thirds of us have had a cup in the past day.  And 84% of coffee drinkers say they now regularly make it at home occasionally. Younger people are almost twice as likely to drink coffee at lunch than people who are over 60. Maybe because having The Bobbie at Capriotti’s just doesn’t sound as good with a cup of coffee.

The Midwest hates decaf, and wants their coffee leaded!  It’s the section of the country that drinks decaf the least.

British people prefer INSTANT coffee at home.  It’s the most popular type over there by far.  44% of people in the U.K. drink instant, 18% brew normal coffee, 15% drink decaf,  and 22% don’t drink coffee at all.

In Italy, coffee is a ritual. You can get it to go, but it’s much more preferred by those making it for you, that you stay and enjoy it out of a REAL cup. There are many different kinds, as well. You can read about them here if you’re heading to see The Pope soon.

A few big chains are offering FREE coffee deals today.  You’d probably normally think Starbucks, but a rep for the company says nope, not today – they don’t have a deal this year – unless you’re in Canada.

There are lots of other options though, and here are a few places you can get a free coffee in Las Vegas:
