As we enter this long weekend, let’s not forget the true meaning behind Memorial Day in Las Vegas.
This weekend, let’s take a moment to reflect, honor and remember the people who died while serving our country.
For many, it’s a solemn moment that reminds families of their loved ones. It’s a time to look back at the sacrifices that our nation has made.
So, while we enjoy those barbecue parties and that extra day off, it’s crucial to remember the meaning behind this weekend.
How Many People From Nevada Died In Combat?
Since the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan, over 50 Nevadans have died in combat or are listed in Nevada’s Book of Fallen Heroes.
The list grows even longer when it comes to the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Along with this, many of the causalities involve men from 19 to 25 years old. It’s quite powerful to realize that much of our country’s freedom is due to men that barely experienced adulthood.
