I regret to inform you that it's now been 10 years since 2013.  An entire decade. Does it seem like a minute ago, or a lifetime ago?

Time moves fast, and fads and trends come and go. For me, and many others, there were parachute pants, off the shoulder sweatshirts, leg warmers, the running man, and cabbage patch dance styles.

Here are some fads and trends from 2013 -  a decade ago! They hit just as hard, and fast as any trends, and were very popular - but how do you feel about them today?

Remember the dopey, huge hit song, "What Does the Fox Say?"  How about the  "goats screaming like humans" videos? Adult onesies? Twerking?

Buzzfeed did a survey on many of those fads, and slang terms, and how you feel about them now. Every generation could easily do a lookback - daily - and your thoughts and opinions would vary. Some things are a really beautiful reminder of a specific time in our life. Some are just a distant memory. Either way, they were a part of our life, and in many ways will forever be.

Remember these words, and phrases from wayyyy back in the 80's? For me (and you, too): "Gag me with a spoon," "Gnarly," "Where's the beef?"

How about theses from just ten years ago? "Meh," "Cray cray," "Deets," "Hashtag fail." You may laugh now, but if you used them then, I guarantee you'll keep using them. To that I say, "Right on!"

Here are some of the specific results from Buzzfeed, and a decade gone by. Feel free to weigh in. No biggee...

Honey Boo Boo

Ahh yes, the original "Toddlers and Tiaras" star! Survey says 49% aren't fans anymore, or never were.  42% don't care, but  9% still love her.  Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" ran for four seasons from 2012 to 2014.  Her real name is Alana Thompson - and she'll be 18 in August.

This is for that 9% who still "love" Honey Boo Boo...

The song "What Does the Fox Say?"

This goofy song was the top-trending YouTube video that year, and about a quarter of you say you still love it. It really was catchy - I mean, no - I hated it! But seriously - it was CATCHY!

The "Cronut"

The Cronut debuted at a bakery in New York ten years ago.  Most of you still love them, but about 10% hate them. They're decadent, but YUMMY!

Goats screaming like humans.

Half of you still love these videos - so here you go!

 Adult onesies

In 2013 these stupid things blew up! Most of you -almost 50% - think they're just that - stupid. a third of you still love. Yes, they're great till you have to PEE! If you're and adult, wearing a onesie, I don't think we can date. (Skip to 2:35)

Walter White hats

Wow - the "Breaking Bad" finale aired in 2013!  But Only 10% wish the black hat he wore would come back in fashion - BOOOOOO!!! It's actually called a Pork Pie Hat -turned up brim and a flat crown, or top. I have a couple, and I actually love them!

Vine

Vine was an American short-form video hosting service where users could share six-second-long looping video clips. It debuted in 2013 and shut down in 2017, but  50% wish it was back. Short and sweet - suck it TikTok!

Froyo

A lot of people said goodbye to ice cream in 2013, and went for frozen yogurt instead.  70% still love it. If you like FROzen YOgurt, you might like this:

Twerking

Who really knows what to make of any "dance" trend, but at this point, when it comes to Twerking - 5% think it's LAME now, 26% don't really have an opinion.  About 20% think it's still cool in 2023. Whatever you think, you will LOVE THIS VIDEO!

Kale

Kale became a viral "superfood" ten years ago. Fun fact: Prior to 2013, Pizza Hut was supposedly the biggest buyer and decorated their salad bars with it.  Now 34% of us still love kale, 35% hate it - and everyone else is indifferent! Personally, I think it's the sad cousin to Spinach and Arugula, but people do like Kale, so who am I to judge?

Whether you love or hate Kale, you'll crack up at this video!

Swag

The word "swag".  It's been around a lot longer than ten years, but it got very trendy in 2013.  Only 16% said they still like that term. But you might like what's in the Swag BAG!
