Our favorite English Singer-Songwriter is coming back to Las Vegas. Sting is returning to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for another leg of his “My Songs” Las Vegas residency. If you aren’t aware of the staying power of Sting’s music, consider this. The Police were together for only 7 years. From 1977 to 1984 Sting helped pen some of the most beloved songs that we still love today. In 1985, a year after The Police broke up, Sting started a solo career and never looked back. It’s hard to pinpoint was his actual genre is. He includes elements of jazz, reggae, rock, new-age and more in his music.
Sting’s songwriting talent has landed him tons of recognition. In 2000 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002. The same year he was honored with the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters. His Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction came in 2003 for his work in The Police. He has an Emmy, A Golden Globe, three Brit Awards, and four Academy Award nominations for Best Original Song. Between his solo work and that with The Police, Sting has 17 Grammy Awards and has sold over 100 millions records. “Every Breath You Take” landed Sting a Grammy for Song of the Year, as well as a BMI Award for it being the most-played song in radio history.
So what does all of this mean? It means Sting puts on one hell of a show! He’s one of the best singer-songwriters that has ever lived. He’s also a pretty down-to-Earth guy. His “My Songs” residency is not one to be missed. He plays songs from his solo and collaborative catalog, including hits from The Police. Tickets are on sale now for his April 2023 performances, and can be purchased here.
