Las Vegas Strip Getting Massive Upgrade With $6.5B LVXP Project, New Mall
This year, Las Vegas will see several major development projects in the works from new hotels and entertainment to a new Oakland A’s stadium.
The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
Construction has begun on a huge $1.08 billion casino resort that will take over The Mirage’s former location on the Las Vegas Strip. Hard Rock International plans to open its doors in Sprint of 2027 after shutting down The Mirage this July.
The Mirage’s iconic volcano will be torn down. Taking its place, a towering guitar structure will reach skyward, adding 660 luxury suites and bringing the total room count to 3,640.
Oakland A’s Stadium
Renderings for a $1.75 billion stadium for the Oakland Athletics, where the Tropicana currently stands, has been submitted to the Clark County Department of Comprehensive Planning. The site will split the current Tropicana land into the ballpark and a new Bally’s Resort featuring three hotel towers. The stadium is expected to be complete for the 2028 MLB season.
The M Resort Expansion
The M Resort Spa Casino is getting bigger with plans for a second tower. The $206 million project will add 384 new rooms by summer 2025, bringing the total to 774 rooms and suites.
LVXP Project
Clark County also gave the go-ahead for LVXP—a massive entertainment complex featuring an 18,000-seat NBA arena and three high-rise skyscrapers along Las Vegas Boulevard.
“LVXP will breathe new life into the north end of the Strip, offering visitors and locals alike an unparalleled experience in entertainment, hospitality, and luxury living,” said Rory Reid, attorney for LVXP developers, to Construction Connect.
BLVD Retail Center Project
The opening of BLVD, the Strip’s top shopping destination, is exciting news. Michael Hirschfeld, JLL Vice Chairman, told CoStar, “To say it’s the center of the new Vegas is a fair statement.”
Big brands, such as Adidas, Puma, and H&M, already secured a huge portion of space. The shopping center is 700 feet long, with two-story 55-foot storefronts.
Other Notable Projects
A $12 billion high-speed train to Los Angeles started construction in April 2024. Brightline West says it’ll get people between cities in just two hours.
Despite setbacks, Dream Las Vegas is still moving ahead with its boutique casino-hotel that started in 2022. The old Texas Station property will become Hylo Park—a $380 million neighborhood combining homes with sports facilities.
