Duran Duran Covers Electric Light Orchestra Classic
Duran Duran or the Electric Light Orchestra are probably not the first rock bands that you think of when you put together your Halloween mix, but this new cover may change your mind. Duran Duran has covered Electric Light Orchestra’s “Evil Woman.” Check out the song below.
If you weren’t aware of Duran Duran’s 2023 album, Danse Macabre, you might want to check that out. It’s a Halloween-themed album with “reimagined” versions of Duran Duran classics and a few covers, including the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black,” the Specials’ “Ghost Town,” Siouxsie and the Banshees’ “Spellbound” and Billie Eilish’s “Bury A Friend.”
A deluxe version of the album, which is out on Friday, contains the new cover of Electric Light Orchestra’s “Evil Woman.” Duran Duran is currently preparing for their Halloween concert at New York’s Madison Square Garden, dubbed The Danse Macabre Party.
Both Duran Duran and the Electric Light Orchestra are recent inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Electric Light Orchestra was inducted in 2017 (frontman Jeff Lynne was included, along with Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, and Roy Wood). Duran Duran, meanwhile, was inducted in 2022. Simon LeBon, Roger Taylor, John Taylor, and Nick Rhodes were included, along with former members Warren Cuccurullo and Andy Taylor.
Electric Light Orchestra is currently wrapping up their “Over and Out Tour,” which they say is their final tour. As of now, the tour wraps later this month, on October 25, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. No additional dates have been announced. See all of their tour dates here. Duran Duran’s Danse Macabre: De Luxe is due out this Friday, October 11. They have a number of tour dates planned in the next few weeks. See their dates here.
