Michigan Man Finds Winning $2 Million Lotto Ticket In His Truck
You always hear the stories of people who buy lotto tickets, forget about them and throw them someplace. Next thing you know, these people are the big winners of the lotto.
It’s Been How Long?
A Michigan man bought a lotto ticket and then stashed it in his truck. What he didn’t know was that he was driving around with a winning lotto ticket worth $2 million dollars. According to USA Today, the 29-year-old bought the ticket at a local E-Z Mart in Shepard, Michigan, located about 150 from Detroit. The man said he bought the ticket but didn’t see any winning numbers.\
According to USA Today, he tossed the ticket in his center console of his truck and called it a day. That’s where he would normally throw his losing tickets. Then after some time, he’d clean it out and throw them away.
What Game Did He Play?
The 29-year-old bought a scratch ticket called the Money Ticket. The ticket looks like a $100 bill with a bunch of scratch surfaces around it. His wife recently asked him to double check the tickets, according to WINK News.
She collected a bunch of them and told him to go to the store to scan them. If they were not winners, she said toss them. Well it was a good thing she asked him to do so because he found out he was the winner of a $2 million ticket. The machine told him to contact the lotto office. The man realized he matched number 13 on the ticket with the winning prize.
He decided to take the lump sum of $1.3 million instead, which is still a good amount. He opted out of the annuity payments., and he also chose to stay anonymous, WINK News reports.
As for what he plans to do with his winnings, he said he plans to invest it. He doesn’t want to make any big purchases. He told USA Today that this will be a big financial cushion for his family.
