Artists Who Did Not Like The Cover Versions Of Their Songs
There is a list of cover songs done by artists and it seems the original artists who did not like the cover version of their songs! This came up on The Mike & Carla Morning Show this morning and it’s quite the list. And the fact that some of the covers became as popular if not more really doesn’t even matter.
According to an article put out by Louder, they put together the Top 10 cover songs that the original artists say they DO NOT LIKE! For example, right off the bat, making the Top 10 is “Blinded By The Light”.
Songs covered by artists the original artists do not like!
A song that Bruce Springsteen wrote and recorded himself. It was from his first album back in 1973. Basically it went unnoticed. However, when Manfred Mann’s Earth Band put it out 4 years later, it went to #1! But, according to the article, the story is legendary that the Boss wasn’t that fond of it since MMEB took liberty with it and change some of the lyrics!
Another one sampled on The M&C Morning Show is the song from The Who, “Behind Blue Eyes”. A classic, iconic hit for The Who which has stood the test of time, but when Limp Biskit covered in, Pete Townsend was none too happy!
Last, but not least, was a song that was covered a couple of times over. But it wasn’t until Weird Al Yankovic took Coolio’s version of “Gangsta’s Paradise” and did a parody of it. Coolio didn’t buy into Yankovic’s version of “Amish Paradise”. But keep in mind it was actually Stevie Wonder who did the original titled “Pastime Paradise”.
All these examples shared this morning in a segment below from The M&C Morning Show. But if you want to see the Top 10 songs from the list, click HERE!
