Trailer: ‘Milli Vanilli’ Documentary Releases On Paramount+
At the time, Milli Vanilli was HUGE, before their career went south, but now you can watch “The Milli Vanilli Documentary” trailer! A new rock-doc that comes out next month! As most of us know, when the pop duo first came out, it was successful right from the start. Their debut album, “All or Nothing” sold like crazy. The album attained platinum status six times over due to sales!
A singing duo made up of Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus, they were put together by music producer Frank Farian. However, it was quick to note that neither one of the two could actually sing, but they sure did look good. So, the thought was, find some great singers, record them and when Milli Vanilli would go out on tour, they could just lip sync! Brilliant!
The documentary about Milli Vanilli has it all!
It was a great idea right up until a gig back in 1989 when the pop duo ran into a problem. An article published by Biography documents that one night where it all ended. As they were lip synching to thousands of fans, their voice track got stuck on the chorus. Just kept repeating over and over again. Not knowing what to do…they ran off stage.
But that really wasn’t the end. In 1990, they actually won a Grammy for Best New Artist. However, after doing a little investigating, the Grammy was taken back and the title vacated! Of course, we all realize that a lot of artists lip synch depending on the situation, but what did in the two was the fact that they didn’t even sing on their album! It was fake right from the beginning.
So, if there’s anything that comes out of this after all these years, it’s another documentary on the two. After their huge hit “Girl You Know It’s True”, just when you think this will be the best story ever…it’s not!
The documentary drops on October 24th on Paramount+, but you can see the trailer below!
