Do You ‘Charge’ Family Members For Thanksgiving Dinner

Family thanksgiving

We all know about inflation and how the price of a Thanksgiving Day dinner has gone up, but do you actually charge family members for coming over on Thanksgiving? That's what one listener to The Mike & Carla Morning Show wanted to know this morning. So, we did what we do most of the times and opened up the phone lines to find out what other listeners thought.

Not surprising, most that called in thought that might be going a little too far this holiday season...instead of just bringing a side dish to add to the table. A lot of people were pretty shocked (SHOCKED) by the email that someone would not only think of doing it, but actually asking for a couple of bucks!

Now keep in mind that the average cost of a Thanksgiving Day dinner for 10 family members is going to run you a little less than $65.00...which is up about $10.00 from last year. You do the math and that's a little than $7.00 per person...on the other hand, according to most stats, some families expect up to about twenty other family members to be at the house on Thursday to participate in the feast!

Thanksgiving can be a very stressful holiday when it comes to hosting others for dinner and what ends up to be the entire day. Apps, football games, the dinner itself, then of course lounging around after the cleanup...it tends to be a long afternoon.

The other big decision is when to have the Thanksgiving Day feast...come to find out that on average, most people will have the turkey between 3pm and 4:30pm. Which, to The M&C Morning Show seems a little late, but what do we know?

Nonetheless, listen to the segment on charging family members who are planning to come over for Thanksgiving and think about how you would handle the situation...and enjoy!
