K-POP Sensations, BTS Are Joining The Korean Military
BTS is the most successful KPOP group in the world. Selling out shows all over, including right here in Las Vegas! The group took a little break and has announced that they will be joining the Korean Military. The group said they will be on hiatus until 2025. Now this isn’t the bands decision. In South Korea, it is mandatory for all “able-bodied” men to serve in their military for an 18 month period. They all must complete this by the time they turn twenty-eight.
The oldest member in the group, Jin, will start serving his 18-month military service at the end of this month. If you search info on Jin, you’ll realized that Jin is actually 29. So if you’re wondering how he’s only now serving his military duties, when it should be completed by the age of 28, the South Korean parliament actually passed a bill in 2020 for pop stars. It states that those who “excel in popular culture and art” can defer their service until thirty. Tell us that wouldn’t want you to strive to be a KPOP start, right?
Jin is releasing a solo project this month and is waiting until it’s release, then he will enlist. Jin also turns thirty this month as well, so it is a race to get enlisted. The other members of the group have said they will all enlist individually when they feel they should. The defense minister did announce that BTS could still be able to perform overseas while they all serve in the military.
Until then, all BTS fans will have to wait it out. We have more on this story and others in today’s Entertainment News!
