Carla’s Thanksgiving Dish Takes Her Back!
Carla Rea‘s Thanksgiving:
As a kid I thought everyone had Turkey AND homemade ravioli, because that’s what we ate for Thanksgiving. Being Italian, it was tradition!
I would help my gramma make the ‘ravs,’ and she made huge ravioli, so three or four would fill you up! Then she would say “you only had three, are you sick?” No gramma – I’m full!
Turkey? Bleh. After gramma’s ‘ravs,’ it’s the SIDES that are the best! Mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberries, stuffing, green bean casserole (yes, I love it) – and pumpkin chiffon pie (mom’s recipe), that takes me right back to being a kid!
I miss those days and have had to make new traditions over the years with my brothers, and friends who are like family.
Friday after Thanksgiving? A morning run, binge-watching a show I’ve put off, or a movie (at the theater). It’s turned into a more relaxing few days – which I love!
Happy Thanksgiving to all – now get those Christmas lights up!! See Carla Rea‘s family photos below:
