9 Celebrity Dads Who Were Really Old When They Had A Kid

We've been hearing about it more and more in Hollywood. Really old celebrity dads. Specifically the ones who were so old when their kids were born that they could have been the child's grandpa. Or even great-grandpa.

Some celebrity dads are well into their 70s or 80s when they announce they're expecting. And some of these men actually have grandkids older than their kids. More and more we are seeing older men in the movie and music scene having children with much younger partners.

And while men don't get quite the same scrutiny about parenting at an older age than women, there are just as many risks that comes with it. According to WebMD, there are all kinds of risks to not only the baby, but the mother, when a man conceives at a later age.

Statistics show that when a man conceives after 50, the baby has a higher risk of both genetic disorders and mental health issues. This is due to an increase likelihood of mutations in the sperm. Additionally, a baby conceived by an older man is more likely to be premature. In fact, there's a 14% chance of a baby being born early if its father is over 45. And a 28 percent chance if dad is over 50, according to WebMD.

But that wasn't the most surprising risk. The mother's health can also be compromised if she carries the baby of an older man. Specifically, she has an increased risk of having gestational diabetes during her pregnancy. Who knew?

In addition to health risks, having a baby at an older age can come with financial strains older parents aren't prepared for. Planning for retirement and paying for a kid at the same time can be frustrating. Of course, when you're a rich and famous man in Hollywood, that's not usually a concern.

Here's a list of our favorite celebrity men who became dads at a much older old age than usual.

Robert Deniro announced the birth of his seventh child in May of 2023, when he was 79 years old. His oldest child, Drena, is 51. That means that she is old enough to be her baby sister's grandma. So that's weird.

This Rolling Stone seems to have a passion for three things: drugs, rock and roll, and unprotected sex. Okay, just kidding. We don't know for sure if any of Jagger's eight children were not planned. Baby #8 was born in 2016, when Jagger was 73. He started a little later than most. His oldest child is 37. But this old dad also has five grandkids and even one great-grandkid. All of which are older than his newest baby.

Al Pacino and his 29-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah welcomed a baby boy in June 2023. Pacino is 83. The new baby is his fourth child, and is 22 years younger than his half siblings, Anton and Olivia (with Beverly D'Angelo) and 33-years younger than his half sister, Julie Marie (with Jan Tarrant).

Richard Gere welcomed his third child, Alexander, in April of 2020. Gere was 70 at the time. The new baby is 19 years younger than his oldest biological sibling.

Here's Ronnie Wood with his twin daughters, Gracie Jane and Alice Rose. His wife Sally Humphreys had them in 2016, when Wood was two days shy of his 69th birthday. His twins are younger than at least two of Wood's grandchildren.

Billy Joel's fourth wife, Alexis Roderick, gave birth to their daughter, Remy Anne, in 2017. Joel was 71 years old at the time. Baby Remy is 32 years younger than her big sister, Alexa Ray.

Not only did Steve Martin announce a baby when he was 67-years old. It was his first child. And his only one, actually. Ironic, considering how many movies he's been in where he's played a father, and kind of nailed it.

If you saw Rod Stewart with Aiden Patrick Stewart, you'd think Aiden was one of his grandchildren. But, no. Aiden is Stewart's youngest child. At 12-years old, Aiden is 47 years younger than his eldest sister, Sarah. Rod "the Mod" was 66 when young Aiden was born.

McCartney welcomed his fifth child in 2003. He was 61 when the little bundle arrived, which makes him the youngest on this list to have a baby!
