It was just a matter of time before this would happen. The popular Seven Magic Mountains have to find a new location. The Mike & Carla Morning Show are letting you know now....and the move is not going to be cheap!

The painted rocks have been a site to view for travelers on south I-15 coming and going since 2016. It's reported that this is such a tourist attraction that over a thousand people stop by the stacked rocks each day!

Why The Seven Magic Mountains Have To Find A New Home

According to a report from, Channel 13, the popular tourist site has to make way for an airport expansion project. In the report it states that the land is being leased through the BLM and cannot be extended past 2026.

Okay, so it will be a couple of years before they have to find a new home...but why you ask? Well, evidently there are plans for expansion of Harry Reid International Airport our that way!

But wait a minute, if you ask airport officials, in the Channel 13 report, they say that is not happening...so what's going on here?

Now here comes the sad part...while one of the options is to keep the attraction in Clark County. If that doesn't work out, a possible new site for the sculptures might be in Washoe County! That would be like 7 hours away!

To move the rocks, as we mentioned at the top of this post, this is where it gets a little dicey, it's not cheap. The Washoe Country board has already gave thumbs up to a $500,000 grant. But according to some, it will take twice as much to move the sculptures.

Just know that if you have not taken the time to drive a few minutes south of Las Vegas to see them, do it now. While the move doesn't have to happen until the end of 2026, you and I know times flies by!
