4 Years Later And Las Vegas Has Another Monolith Sighting

Another mysterious reflective monolith has appeared in Las Vegas. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department took to X, formerly Twitter on Monday (June 17) to share two photos of the long, vertical slab of metal that allegedly appeared over the weekend on a hiking trail near Gass Peak on the northern side of the Las Vegas area.

"We see a lot of weird things when people go hiking like not being prepared for the weather, not bringing enough water... but check this out," the department wrote alongside photos of the monolith.

The tall, geometric figure in the photos reflects the desert and perfectly aligns with the horizon.

Interestingly, a similar monolith appeared in downtown Las Vegas in December 2020, standing under the Fremont Street Experience canopy.

Before that, an identical monolith was spotted in a remote area of Utah in November 2020, before it vanished a few days later. According to a report from Fox 13 Now, it was discovered just east of Canyonlands National Park during a count of bighorn sheep. “Days after it was found, it was removed by a group who delivered it to the Bureau of Land Management,” they stated.

According to a statement from the federal Bureau of Land Management’s Utah office. An artist collective known as The Most Famous Artist took credit for the monoliths in Utah, Romania, and the U.K.

In March, a hiker came across a large metal monolith near a small Welsh town. Forbes reported that the monolith was located atop a hill that couldn’t be accessed by a car.

The monolith is one of several similar objects that have appeared worldwide in the last four years. According to the outlet, monoliths were found in Utah, California, New Mexico, Romania, and the Isle of Wight in 2020.

People online are now playing detectives trying to solve the mystery of the latest monolith sighting. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reminded the public to stay safe while visiting the area's trails, especially as summer temperatures rise.

They used the column to remind hikers to use the “TRAIL” acronym while enjoying recreational activities. TELL someone where you intend to hike or climb and when you are expecting to return. RESEARCH the weather forecast for the area before you go. Bring AID and additional food and water including plenty of water, food, a first aid kit, and INCLEMENT weather gear. Lastly, bring a LIGHT source, a completely charged phone, and consider a P.L.B. (Personal Locator Beacon).

Many people flooded the comments of a Reddit thread to share their thoughts. One person said, “Imagine just putting weird s--- in random places, going home, and watching the internet lose its mind.” They continued, “This is some bored rich dudes entertainment. Nothing more.”

Another person said, “Certainly some bored artist and not aliens though.” Someone jokingly said. “Mysterious puddles of water found on ground overnight. Police suspect either rain or aliens.”
