Desert Dogs’ Goalie Talks Nicknames, Smell And More
The season is almost over, but just in time, Desert Dog goalie Landon Kells comes by to talk nicknames, lacrosse smell and much more. This Saturday night, it’s “Bobblehead” night with the Dogs taking on Vancouver at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay. So, The Mike & Carla Morning Show thought it would be nice to catch up with the team’s goalie and have him in studio.
The Las Vegas Desert Dogs are currently 4-10 on the season, so it’s been a little rough this year. But that didn’t stop Kells from having a good time with The M&C Morning Show. It was a great story of how Landon actually became a goalie. He’s father was a goalie and after realizing that being a “player” might not be for him, Kells talked to his dad about the position. After some great advice from dad, Landon made the decision to make the move!
Desert Dogs’ Goalie Talks About Pre-Game Ritual
Right off the bat we talked about his pre-game ritual. Landon actually has a ritual that he does at the beginning of each and every game. If you get there early enough to see them drop the ball…check out the goalie seconds before the drop. He’s staring down the opposing goalie, touching all pipes on the net and more…it’s quite the progression.
We also had the chance to bring up that patented lacrosse “smell”! Similar to the famous hockey smell, but Landon did tell us it a smell that his mom, to this day, just can’t stand! And being single, not the best smell to be associated with when trying to date…especially here in Las Vegas. But clearly the guys get used to it!
The M&C Morning Show also brought up the topic of “nicknames” on the team. One specific nickname that Kells pointed out even came with a quick sound effect! It’s all was in good fun and a good time with Landon Kells. Enjoy the entire visit below and we’ll see ya at the match this Saturday night!
