Tips To Calling In Sick The Day After St. Patrick’s Day

It's just weird to a lot of people having St. Patrick's Day fall on a Sunday. However, if you are going to engage, here are some tips to calling in sick the day after! The Mike & Carla Morning Show actually did this as a public service announcement for many.

Of course with the official day on Sunday, a lot of people will start celebrating on Friday. And probably already have...but in preparation for Monday, here are a few things you should know. Especially if you're thinking about calling in "sick" on that Monday...and who isn't?

According to Zippia, it's pretty much what we do now when we call in sick. But in this case, the key point is keep it short and keep the details to a minimum. Don't talk too much and talk to only the people you need to talk to.

The article also says to let the boss know you realize it's bad timing when you come back on Tuesday! In the least amount of words, sound apologetic, but don't over do it...then suspicion starts to develop! Oh, and another thing...don't bring up the fact that it was St. Patrick's day. The boss already knows that, you don't have to remind him.

A couple of other things you should keep in mind during all this...keep to yourself. When you do indeed get back to work, don't tell anyone about your weekend. In fact, if you're going to say anything, just say you found yourself dragging all weekend.

However, before you do that, make sure you didn't see anyone from work. You also have to create a code of silence with your friends who you went out with! All part in parcel to making the perfect "I calling in sick" call!

St. Patrick's Day is upon us, and that means a lot of people will be packing those Irish pubs in Vegas. Which is totally acceptable. In fact, if you've never experienced that scene at one of Las Vegas's pubs, you really should at least once. It is something you will not forget. The energy of an Irish pub is unmatched. But it's not your only option in Vegas for celebrating the shamrock this year. There are a lot of local restaurants, many not Irish at all, still offering cocktails and food dishes to honor the old leprechaun.

If you do want to go all out with your traditional celebration, obviously you have to go the pub route. And we have so many great Irish pubs in Las Vegas. On the Strip, you have O'Sheas and the Tilted Kilt in the LINQ. Nine Fine Irishmen is inside the New York, New York. And Rí Rá is in the Mandalay Bay. If you want to head downtown, you've got Hennessey's Tavern on Fremont. That right there is enough to get your pub crawl on this year.

If you'd rather stay off-Strip for your pubbin', McMullan's Irish Pub is right by the Orleans Hotel on Tropicana. Even further away, there are three Sean Patrick's locations scattered throughout the city.  So when it comes to getting your St. Patrick's Day celebration on, pub-style, you have plenty of options.

If you don't like the pub scene or aren't a fan of broiled bacon and cabbage, there are other ways to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year in Vegas. A lot of our local restaurants are keeping their typical menus but offering Irish-inspired specials. And some of them look pretty darn good. One of the cocktails on this list has a Lucky Charms rim! I mean, come on! Shut up and take my gold coins.

It's seriously awesome that St. Patrick's Day is on a Sunday this year, at least if you're a brunch person. Because you can start your day off with a green apple mimosa from thebrokenyolkcafe.com. Add that to their already awesome menu of brunch dishes. I love Betty's Southern Biscuits & Gravy!

If brunch is your thing and you're in the northwest part of Las Vegas, check out La Neta on St. Patrick's Day. On March 17 from noon to 4 p.m., they're doing specials for the holiday, while still serving their normal menu too. Specials include green pancakes with Lucky Charms, elote avocado toast, Churrasco and Green eggs, Trash Chilies, and more.

They also have a selection of cocktails for the occasion, including bottomless green mimosas and green beer, Irish Mules, and green tea shots. La Neta is located at 1770 Festival Plaza Drive in the Summerlin area.

**NOTE** There is a dress code that is strictly enforced, even at brunch. They call it "upscale fashionable" and request no workout attire or backwards caps. Also no pool attire, tank tops or sleeveless shirts.

The Silverton Casino has two restaurants doing specials for St. Patrick's Day. The Twin Creeks Steakhouse is adding two special dishes to their menu for the holiday. Including a Braised Lamb Shank entrée and a Green Velvet layer cake! Dishes will be available 4 to 10 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day.

The Sundance Grill inside the Silverton has my vote, though. They're adding coffee-crusted corn beef to their menu. As well as chocolate iced box cake with mint Oreo cookie crust and Chantilly cream. Yes, please! Those will be available 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.

I know what you're thinking. But you can totally celebrate an Irish holiday at a Mexican restaurant. Especially when they have such a tasty line-up of Leprechaun libations.

Borracha is doing specialty Irish-inspired cocktails on St. Patrick's Day from 4 to 10 p.m. You can pick the Irish Margarita. Which includes Jameson orange, lime and orange juices, pineapple and a Tajin rim. Or the Shamrock Sipper, made with Jameson Black Barrel, strawberry liqueur, champagne and lemon. Or, if you love a good mule, try the Dublin Mule. Made with Jameson orange, pomegranate juice, ginger beer, and lime juice. Each cocktail costs $14.

And while they've got all the fancy Irish libations, you can still go old school and ask for a green beer. Located in Green Valley Ranch.

If you love Italian food but also want to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, this is your answer. It's the best of both this year. Available exclusively the entire month of March, Bottiglia will have $18 specialty cocktails.

The Irish Charm is a must-try. Made with Baileys Irish Cream, vanilla vodka, espresso, complete with a Lucky Charms rim. Very unique, and probably pretty darn tasty.

They also have the Dublin Down spin on the Moscow Mule. Made with Jameson Irish Whiskey, Fever Tree ginger beer and lime juice.

Both sound amazing. Both available on St. Patrick's Day. Bottiglia is open 4 to 10 p.m. on Sundays. Located inside Green Valley Ranch.

If you're a little less Irish pub, a little more Sports bar, this is the place for you on St. Patrick's Day. Located inside Palace Station, Tailgate Social has all your favorite bar food. Plus some Irish cocktails on Sunday, March 17.

Specialty cocktails start at $14. Including a Dublin Mule, made with orange Jameson, pomegranate juice, ginger beer and lime juice. Or warm up with the Irish coffee, made with Jameson, espresso, simple syrup and a cinnamon stick.

If you're a fan of the Irish Car Bomb, ask for the Irish Slammer. It is their pint of Guinness with the Jameson Whisky shot inside. And if you're just going for the basic green beer thing, they'll have that too.

Not only will the STRAT light up green for St. Patrick's Day, but it'll have specialty cocktails and food throughout their restaurants. PT’s Wings & Sports, REMIX Lounge, View Lounge and 108 Drinks are all places inside the STRAT that you can look for Irish-inspired cocktails. Including five dollar Bud Light draft beers, free green Jell-O shots, and ten dollar Irish Slammers.

For St. Patty's Day food, head over to PT’s Wings for some corned beef and cabbage sliders. Or their braised short rib with green mashed potatoes and broccolini. The STRAT Café will also be offering food specials. Including a Reuben sandwich filled with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and Russian dressing with a side of French fries.

Yes, it's a German restaurant. And yes, they're doing specials for St. Patrick's Day. Enjoy their Gepökelte Ochsenbrust mit Weißkraut, which is how the Germans say Corned Beef and Cabbage. Made with a seriously tender corned beef brisket.

They have drink specials too. Including the Screwy Leprechaun. Made with Malibu rum, Blue Curacao and orange juice. Top off your meal with the St. Patrick's Day dessert, the Brotpudding with vanilla ice cream and whiskey sauce. Delish!

Hofbräuhaus Las Vegas is located on the corner of Paradise and Harmon, they're open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on March 17.

When it comes to celebrating a holiday, Las Vegas locals can always count on Arizona Charlie's to have a special going on. The Decatur location's Sourdough Cafe is offering a few food dishes and cocktails for St. Patrick's Day. Including Corned Beef and Cabbage, Guinness Pints, Jameson shots and Irish Coffees. Available 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 17.
