We have a nice, long, three-day holiday weekend coming up for Presidents Day. But did you already enjoy a three-day weekend due to the “Big Game” on February 11th? Apparently, lots of Las Vegans and Nevadans took the opportunity to call out sick on Monday the 12th. So, if you missed work on Super Sick Monday, you’re not alone.
Nevada Workers Search For Ways To Call Out Sick
Many Americans ask the question: Can we please make the Monday after the “Big Game” a national holiday? It makes sense, since a lot of us plan in advance to take that day off. Additionally, many others call out sick on “Super Sick Monday” each year.
In fact, according to an article by Mike Snider on USA Today.com, last year more than 8 million people said they would plan in advance to take that Monday off. An additional 8 million more Americans said they might miss work on Super Sick Monday. Even if you do show up for work on Monday following that Sunday night football party, how much work do you really do? It has to be one of the most unproductive workdays each year.
With that in mind, the experts at Betway.com took a look at the number of online searches for the best ways to call out sick for work the day after the “Big Game.” Then, they broke down those stats to see which states suffer the most from workers calling out on Super Sick Monday. Wouldn’t you know it, Nevada shows up at #6 in the rankings. Obviously, Las Vegas is the most populous city in the state. So you can imagine we were a big reason Nevada made the top 10 on this list by Betway.com.
Super Sick Monday: Which State’s Football Fans Make The Most Searches
So, which team’s football fans make the most searches online for way to call out sick on the day after the Big Game? Kansas City Chiefs fans! The state of Kansas rank first in this survey of ways to call out sick on Super Sick Monday. Fans in Missouri rank second. How about San Francisco 49ers fans? California ranks 10th.
Other states where the day after the Big Game should probably be a national holiday include Arizona (#3), West Virginia (#4), Pennsylvania (#5), Wyoming (#7), Hawaii (#8), and North Dakota (#9).
