Decorating Your Christmas Tree Is Now An Art Form
Over the years, it definitely has changed, but decorating your Christmas tree is now an art form! Okay, maybe not to all, but to most right? As a kid, I remember having a hand it the decorating of our tree.
From the garland to the tinsel, all of us joined in to decorate. As we have talked before on The Mike & Carla Morning Show, there were different ways to apply the garland.
The final honor of course was left for our Dad who was the one in charge of putting the star on top! Then you stood back in anticipation of the lights being plugged in to see what you had created.
Decorating The Christmas Tree Is Truly An Art Form!
As a child, I remember having real trees for the longest time. Going out to the local tree lot, picking it out and making sure it would fit in the one place we always had our tree…in the corner right by the fireplace. As I think back, maybe not the best place, since all we had was a wood burning fireplace.
On the other hand, after a few years, my Dad thought it was time to get fancy! That’s right, we went artificial…and even took the next step: An artificial FLOCKED tree! For those that might not remember, that was the tree that looked like it had snow all over it.
To me it was the end of an era. We had no part in the chaos that was known as “decorating” the tree. Each and every ornament had to be placed precisely on the tree. Evenly spaced from the other ornaments of the same color. And tinsel was out all together! But it did look nice after it was all done…not very real, but nice.
Then came the “aluminum” holiday tree. Boy, this was created strictly for the Jetson’s! And to add to it, my Dad add a color wheel light to reflect off the trees. This way it actually looked like it was different colors!
I think each and every family goes through their different Christmas tree “phases” during the holidays!
