Is Nevada One Of The Best States To Work In? New Study Ranks Them All
Nevada is number one in only category in a recent study. The research helps rank all 50 states plus the District of Columbia to determine the best states for workers in America.
Nevada Is Number One In This Particular Category
The Silver State is tops in the nation when it comes to job growth over the past year. That’s according to a recent study from PeakSalesRecruiting.com. Chiefly, the information comes from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics as of September 2023. Nevada has a 3.4% job growth rate. Subsequently, Texas and Idaho rank second and third in this category. Conversely, the worst states for job growth are Rhode Island (-0.7%), Mississippi (+0.5%), and Montana (+0.6%).
So, the question becomes: what other statistics are they using to determine the best and worst states for workers in the U.S.A.? According to an article by Eliot Burdett on PeakSalesRecruiting.com, they are using eight different metrics. Besides job growth rates, they look at “GDP growth, union representation, weekly hours” on the job, “commute times, remote work, and earnings ratio.” What is an earnings ratio? Per Burdett’s article, it “measures the living wage needed to support a family against the median wage.”
The Best States For Workers In America
Ultimately, the study ranks Oregon as the best state for workers in the U.S.A. The two key factors that help their ranking is strong union representation (16.9%), and a shorter work week (37.8 hour average). Meanwhile, New Hampshire (#2), Massachusetts (#3), Montana (#4), and Delaware (#5) round out the top five best states for workers in America.
Overall, Nevada ranks as the 18th best state for workers in the U.S.A. According to a press release from Staci Stefan with Prism PR Group, there are some key factors which determine our state’s ranking. For example, our combined state and local sales taxes come to 8.24%. In addition, 12.8% of Nevada’s workers have union representation. Furthermore, 12.2% of us work from home. Moreover, the average work week for Nevadans totals 38.8 hours.
Of course, your personal feelings, opinions and experiences will certainly determine your priorities when it comes to your career choices. You may put a higher emphasis on wages rather than hours worked. Or, you may prefer working from home rather than what a state’s job growth rate might be.
