If you're on the lookout for a rewarding job opportunity, here's some exciting news for you. Clark County is gearing up for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year and is in need of dedicated school crossing guards to join their team.

They are hosting a series of hiring events throughout the Las Vegas valley, making it super convenient for you to join in and make a difference.

Here's What You'll Need

The hiring events are happening from 10 a.m. to noon, and the best part is, all you need to bring with you are two forms of ID, according to the Clark County website. It couldn't be simpler! Not only will you be making a positive impact on the community, but the job also offers a competitive wage of $16 an hour. Plus, what makes it even more appealing is that you could work close to your own neighborhood, making it easier to balance work and personal life.

Here's the schedule for the upcoming hiring events:

  • Monday, July 24: Rainbow Library, 3150 N Buffalo Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89128
  • Tuesday, July 25: Mission Hills Park, 551 Mission Dr, Henderson, NV 89002
  • Wednesday, July 26: Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89117
  • Thursday, July 27: Freedom Park, 3051 E. Washington Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89101
  • Friday, July 28: ACMS Office, 4775 W. Teco Ave #235, Las Vegas, NV 89118

Here's what you need to know to be eligible for this fantastic opportunity: You should be at least 18 years old, as you'll be handling the important responsibility of ensuring the safety of our kids. Additionally, you'll be asked to pass an agility and balance assessment, which will help determine your ability to perform the duties effectively. Lastly, you'll need to complete fingerprinting, ensuring a secure environment for all.

The county says that those hired can anticipate working one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. It's a schedule that allows you to contribute meaningfully to the community while still providing you with the flexibility you may need.

Don't Miss This Opportunity

Head over to the nearest hiring event and show them what a fantastic addition you'd be to their team. Join in, and you could be a vital part of the group that helps young ones cross the road safely during the school year. Best of luck, and let's work together to make our community safer and better! School Supplies Your Kids Really Need

Here is Clark County, we are four days into the 2022-23 school year and hopefully you were able to afford all the school supplies your kid really needs for school. However, for those waiting to start school, our friends at SNWS put out an article with a list of some of the things kids today need for school. Now, don't get too freaked out by the list since some things haven't changed over the years, but there are a couple of items that pop out at you...and the fact that the younger kids need these as well.

Remember when all you needed was a couple of #2 pencils, paper, a few folders? Oh, and the book covers we made at home out of paper bags from the grocery store...well those days are over! Starting in kindergarten, the following are listed as supplies the little ones need for school:

Writing utensils
Glue sticks
School glue
Markers
Tissues (more so for the teacher)
Crayons
Colored pencils
Safety scissors

Then you wonder why the back pack you kid carries to school weighs more than the kid...and that's just for those kids 5-6 years of age!

The article features results from a poll of about 1,000 parents who were surveyed and found the top must-have back-to-school supplies include....and keep in mind that these are now considered "basic" items by today's standards. Times are tough as it is, having to by back to school clothes, including shoes, socks...lunch boxes (do they still use those any more?).

Keep in mind, you probably have already shopped and taken care of all these back to school needs, but if not, feel free to share this list with your family and friend! Scroll down to see the Top 5 items on the list of back to school items needed.

All that and much more in Mike & Carla's segment of "A Few Things We Think You Should Know" this morning!
