Personalized license plates are a hot trend for many people in Nevada.

In fact, as of June 9 of this year, 211,776 people in Nevada have a personalized license plate on their car. That's about 10 percent of the state's number of registered cars, reviewjournal.com reported. Messages on these plates cover every topic, from god to sports to an individual's name.

But there are some license plate message you probably won't see.

Including some political messages, and anything that shows contempt for a specific race, gender, religion or ethnical heritage. There's a DMV administrative code that regulates personalized plates and prohibits some of these more controversial or offensive topics. Code NAC482.320 also prohibits references to gangs or drugs or messages that defame a person or group. Additionally, it doesn't allow vulgar, derogatory or obscene messages or profanity.

When an individual orders a personalized plate that might be a potential violation of the code, it is marked for review. Then a committee made up of department administrators determine whether or not to allow the license plate to be purchased.

In addition to the NAC482.320 code, different states have different additional restrictions. For example, drivers in California can not use the number 69 unless their car was manufactured in 1969. And Colorado drivers can't get plates that are military-themed (reviewjournal.com).

If you see a plate that is offensive, you can file a complaint.

This is what happened in May in Reno. A driver filed a complaint against a Nevada plate that read "GOBK2CA". Meaning "Go Back To California", the plate was revoked by the DMV. It was determined to be offensive to Californians and in violation of code NAC482.320. Specifically the part of the code that prohibits defamatory remarks toward a group of people. But now the owner of the plate is filing an appeal to get his plate back.

A spokesperson for the DMV said that many requests for the same type of message are turned down by the department, foxla.com reported. The hearing for the owner of the GOBK2CA plate is on Wednesday.

Does Las Vegas Have The Worst Drivers

There are a lot of people from all over the country here, maybe that's why everyone thinks Las Vegas has the worst drivers in the country! It's a melting pot, a cornucopia, a mish mosh of all sorts of people trying to get around our city. With that said, everyone has a tendency to drive like where they are originally from!

But in a recent study Clevermove.com surveyed 50 major cities throughout the country. Despite what you might think, Las Vegas did not even come in the Top 10! Based on the criteria that included insurance premiums, drunk drivers and highway fatalities, you should know that Las Vegas didn't even crack the Top 25!

That is the good news...however, where did Las Vegas ranked when it came to the cities with the worst drivers? Hold on to the steering wheel because despite what we all think and know, Las Vegas came in at #30 on the list! That is totally amazing...especially after surviving today!

On the flipside, most Americans think that the state of California has the BEST and the WORST drivers in the country. New York City has the fewest drunk driving fatalities and our friends in Detroit pay the highest insurance premiums.

So as you drive throughout the day in our wonderful city, keep your head on a swivel. Not sure if the stats actually indicate day to day driving in the city. We think a lot of Las Vegans would tell you that the drivers here are CRAZY. Much more, they just don't know how to drive.

But what cities officially have the worst drivers? Ah, for that list, just scroll down and check it out. As you look at the Top 5, remember, you can see the entire list clicking HERE!
