With Christmas right around the corner, it came up this morning on how much Santa really eats on Christmas Eve. Think about it, with all the milk and cookies left out by kids not just in our city, but we’re talking worldwide…you’d be amazed! It’s just one of the stories The Mike & Carla Morning Show had this morning in “A Few Things We Think You Should Know!”
Santa’s intake on Christmas Eve alone is almost 9.9 billion calories! That’s BILLIONS with a “B”! Can’t even begin to imagine what that is even like, but the good news is that he burns it off as he works on that special night.
Moving forward and doing the math, if you figure 140 calories per plate, with the cookies, the milk and other goodies…in the end, it all works out since he burns about 54 million of those calories dropping off gifts throughout the night. And in case you didn’t notice, Santa is all arms and legs.
Now, keep this in mind, in Christmas Eve, Santa will travel about 75 million millions and considering all the time changes, will only have about 32 hours to get everything done. With all that work in a matter of hours and considering all that he eats, it’s now wonder, he can still do what he does after all these years!
One other thing to note on this special night, Santa turns out to be quite the speed demon! Just so you know, it’s been calculated that Santa’s sleigh is moving at about 650 miles per second, 3,000 times the speed of sound! It’s amazing in itself that he can actually do this without goggles and a helmet! And you can only imagine the beating his reindeer take each and every year…it’s no wonder they only work one day a week!
All this information and more in this morning’s segment of “A Few Things We Think You Should Know”…so if you do anything today, take a couple of minutes and get the scoop on this and a few other stories!
Despite what most people will tell you, this Christmas we don’t want what some would call a “physical” gift as much as something else. So, what do all of us really want for Christmas this year. Believe it or not, after a bit of little research, it’s actually things you can’t buy in your typical store where you would usually do your Christmas shopping.
The Mike & Carla Morning Show brought this up this morning. Since we are on our third Christmas since the start of the pandemic . . . and so for a lot of people, solo at-home gifts like books and video games aren’t going to cut it anymore. According to a recent article put out by CISION, most people are hoping to find “experiences” wrapped under the Christmas tree this season!
However, here is the key, we are all looking for something that we can “share” with someone else! We actually want to get out, do something, and be able to enjoy it with someone special…and isn’t that what Christmas is all about?
So what are some of those “experiences” we are looking for this holiday season? Think about all the things you would love to do or to do again, but this time it’s all paid for! Although it didn’t make the Top 5, a tour of a great museum was on the list…clearly not a “favorite”, but clearly someone thought that would be awesome.
Now a “couples” massage came to mind and that didn’t even make the Top 10, but we’re sure a lot of people with the stress of this past year could use a relaxing massage at some point in the new year! Tickets came up, but not to a sporting event…think of all the sporting events that go on in your town and how cool would that be to get a VIP experience to see your local team? Just another idea to plan out for that someone special.
We imagine the bottom line here is to give that someone in your life an experience that they normally wouldn’t bother to take or even pay for themselves. So, what are the Top 5 “experiences” people are looking for as Christmas gifts? Well, to find that out, scroll through below and find out for yourself.
However, to listen to the segment from this morning on a “Few Things We Think You Should Know”, click PLAY and here some other stories as well on The M&C Morning Show!
You would have thought this would rank higher, but giving someone special tickets to a wine or beer tasting made the list and why not! It’s something that maybe we just wouldn’t do on our own and if you have a big event coming up, tickets to it just might be the perfect gift for that person who does indeed love beer or wine! With that reasoning, it comes in at #5 on the list!

#4 FOOD TOUR OR COOKING CLASS
This might be a great surprise for your parents or that couple who you do everything with! Anything to do with food is great…whether it’s a “food tour” or a “cooking class”, both are home runs when it comes to a Christmas gift…so with that said, it comes in at #4 on the list!

#3 OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES: BOATING, SKIING OR HIKING
Here something that you might want to think about giving that special someone…and outdoor activity! You just have to make sure to really know this person and what they like to do! Hiking is fun, even skiing for that matter, but boating seems to be a favorite…especially when you don’t have to do the work. Just sit back and enjoy…this is why we think it comes in at #3!

#2 TICKETS TO A CONCERT OR SHOW
Do you know how many birds you can kill with one gift like this? You have concert tickets, beer, wine, an unbelievable experience…you just have to make sure you get tickets to see the right show! This is an awesome gift and no wonder why it came in at #2 on the list!

#1 SURPRISE TRAVEL
Here ya go…#1 on the list is “Surprise Travel”! For example, 63% of people surveyed said they would be like to receive “surprise travel” . . . so maybe tickets or just a plan to go somewhere with family or friends in the future. Uh yeah! Most of us would right? Image Christmas morning opening your gift to find that your kids bout you a vacation to your favorite spot in the world! Okay, we can dream, but that’s it…the Top 5 things we really want for Christmas this year
