Jay Leno Suffered Third Degree Burns, May Need Skin Grafts

Jay Leno revealed he suffered third-degree burns and may need skin grafts after a 115-year-old car burst into flames in his famous Los Angeles car garage. The former Tonight Show host was working on his 1907 White Steam Car on Saturday (November 12), fixing a clogged fuel line. He told gossip website TMZ that there was a fuel leak and gasoline sprayed on his face and hands. Almost simultaneously, a spark triggered an explosion, setting the 72-year-old comedian on fire.

Leno told the outlet that his buddy, Dave, quickly smothered the flames, preventing even more severe injuries. The television host was then rushed to the Grossman Burn Center and treated for his burns, where he is expected to remain for 5 to 10 days. Subsequently, Leno has canceled all engagements for the next two weeks.

Yesterday, Leno told the NY Post, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.” As we earlier reported, sources told the gossip site that “the flames burned the left side of Jay’s face, but thankfully did not penetrate his eye or his ear.”
