One of Las Vegas’ most exhilarating and inspiring events is almost here! On Sunday, February 23, hundreds of participants will take on 1,455 steps to the top of The STRAT Tower as part of the American Lung Association in Nevada’s Scale The STRAT Fight for Air Climb.
This annual event raises crucial funds for lung disease research, clean air advocacy, and support programs for those affected by lung conditions like lung cancer, COPD, and asthma.
🎧 Listen to our interview with Deborah Thompson, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Nevada, and Chrystal Watters, a dedicated climber with Team diSRuptors:
Why Climb?
For Chrystal Watters, this climb is deeply personal. After losing her father to lung cancer in 2019 and seeing her mother battle COPD, she climbs in their honor. Now, as part of Team diSRuptors, she continues to push herself to the top—often finishing in just over 20 minutes!
“For me, it’s more than a challenge—it’s a way to support my dad, my mom, and everyone who struggles to breathe,” says Watters.
How It Works
Climbers are scheduled in staggered heats, starting every 10-15 seconds. Water and oxygen stations are available throughout the stairwell, and every finisher earns an official time and a victory photo at the top.
Still Time to Sign Up!
Registration is open at ScaleTheSTRAT.org until February 18. After that, participants can still register in person, but fees increase from $35 to $50, with a $200 fundraising minimum required to participate.
Supporting a Vital Cause
Funds raised from Scale The STRAT support programs that help people quit smoking, provide resources for children with asthma, and fund life-saving research for lung disease treatments.
