According to the World Health Organization, lifespans are getting longer. "Globally, life expectancy has increased by more than 6 years between 2000 and 2019 – from 66.8 years in 2000 to 73.4 years in 2019," they said.
Fox News teamed up with some experts to learn about the bad habits that make you age faster. The longevity experts warned about behaviors that cause "cellular damage" and ways to move forward.
"One of the primary hallmarks of aging is accumulated cellular damage that leads to organ dysfunction and, ultimately, death," a neurologist and longevity expert, told the outlet.

At the top of their list is smoking. They said it's proven to shorten life expectancy. One of the experts said that smoking introduces toxins that impair skin elasticity and collagen production which leads to wrinkles. Medical News Today reported that tobacco deaths will not only occur in old age but will start when smokers are about age 35. Half of those who die from smoking-related causes will die in middle age, each losing about 25 years of life expectancy.
Following behind is excess sun exposure. One of the experts noted that excess sun exposure can lead to aging by damaging the skin's DNA, causing wrinkles, sagging skin, and dark spots. "Regularly using sunscreen with a high SPF, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding sun exposure during peak hours can protect the skin," they said. It’s worth mentioning that some research suggests that sun exposure can improve vitamin D levels, which is important for bone health and immune function. But too much sun can alter your skin.
Some people are aware that diet can help towards the goal of longevity. The experts point out that poor diet has been shown to accelerate aging. "A diet high in processed foods, sugars, and unhealthy fats can cause inflammation, damage collagen, and accelerate skin aging," they said.
To reduce aging signs, the experts recommend eating a balanced diet rich in low-glycemic index fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and anti-inflammatory fats like omega-3 and omega-9. The National Library of Medicine published a study that says life expectancy can increase by up to 10 years following “sustained shifts” towards healthier diets.

As a result, we quickly experience guilt, as if everything is our fault.
In a study published in The European Journal of Social Psychology, researchers found that with each apology, individuals may experience a decrease in their confidence, potentially influencing their self-image. On the other hand, participants who refrained from expressing remorse in these situations showed signs of higher self-esteem, an increased sense of control, and an enhanced sense of integrity, as per the research findings.
When things get rocky with a partner, friend, family member, or coworker, saying a heartfelt "I'm sorry" can be the way to patch things up. Ideally, both sides would do some soul-searching and own up to any wrongdoing.
