Similarly, I mourn every loss they suffer. I also skate in a recreational hockey league every Wednesday night. But did you know that Las Vegas is also home to a very successful college hockey team? The UNLV Skatin’ Rebels are nationally ranked. Accordingly, they are competing for the ACHA (American Collegiate Hockey Association) championship.
UNLV Skatin’ Rebels Are Competing For The ACHA National Championship
At this time, UNLV is competing for the ACHA Men’s Division 1 Western Collegiate Hockey League crown. Their record is 21-6-1, and they are sitting in second place in this league behind the University of Central Oklahoma.
In the meantime, they have games tonight (February 16) and tomorrow night (February 17). You can watch them battle the University of Oregon at City National Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. each night. To purchase tickets on their website, click here.
You’re Invited To Their All-In Gala And Charity Poker Tournament
Unlike the legendary hockey programs at NCAA Division 1 schools, the UNLV Skatin’ Rebels are a self-funded, non-profit hockey organization. So, besides student-athlete dues, it's fundraising program and events which keep this team skating for a national championship.
With this in mind, the Skatin’ Rebels invite you to the UNLV Hockey All-In Gala and Charity Poker Tournament. For just a $300 dollar entry fee, you’ll have a chance to win the grand prize of $5,000! Additionally, your entry fee includes the “cocktail hour, dinner with the UNLV Hockey team and staff, meet and greets, limited edition merchandise, free beer and wine, and the charity poker tournament.” That’s according to a press release from Atomic City PR.
Furthermore, this event will take place at the fabulous Stirling Club on Paradise Road, Saturday, February 24th. The cocktail hour begins at 4 p.m., and the poker tournament starts at 7 p.m. sharp.
You can check out CharitySeriesOfPoker.org for all the details about this gala and tournament.
