Rock Hall Induction Ceremony Will Be Broadcast Live This Year

This year, for the first time, fans can watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony live without attending the show. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…

This year, for the first time, fans can watch the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony live without attending the show. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced that the induction ceremony will be broadcast live on Disney+. The show is on Friday, November 3, at 8 pm ET at Brooklyn's Barclays Center. It will be available on demand following the ceremony. ABC will offer a highlights show on Monday, January 1, 2024, from 8 pm - 11 pm ET.

But the big question for fans is, who is going to perform? Of all of the inductees, the press release only mentions four. "Fans can expect the stage to come alive with rare once-in-a-lifetime performances and collaborations by Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, Chaka Khan, and Willie Nelson."

Who Wasn't Mentioned?

Rage Against the Machine was not mentioned, although their guitar player Tom Morello is on the Rock Hall's nominating committee. And some were hoping that the famously stage-shy Kate Bush would perform a few songs, but that also seems unlikely.

The press release did mention some of the special guest performers who will be on hand, but didn't say which artists they would honor: Brandi Carlile, Dave Matthews, H.E.R., Chris Stapleton, St. Vincent, New Edition, Elton John "and many more" will hit the stage. Although it seems likely that Elton John will perform a tribute to Bernie Taupin, his longtime songwriting partner. Taupin has written the lyrics to most (but not all) of Elton's classics. His list of credits includes "Someone Saved My Life Tonight," "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Candle In The Wind," among countless others.

The full list of this year's inductees includes: Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine and The Spinners. DJ Kool Herc and Link Wray will be honored with the Musical Influence award. Chaka Khan, Al Kooper and Bernie Taupin will get the Musical Excellence award. And Don Cornelius is being honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Rock Hall: Every Multiple Inductee in Its History

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is one of the most prestigious and controversial institutions in music. Every year, music fans can't help but complain and rant about who's in, who should be in and every other argument you can think of. Honestly, it's sort of nice to have such a reliable constant in life. It's the music nerd's version of "death and taxes," and that's rather beautiful if you stop and think about it.

Of course, in order to be nominated and inducted into the Rock Hall, 25 years must have passed from the time of an artist's first released recording. In the vastness of music history, this means many artists are eligible, but very few are inducted. Of those inducted, even fewer are inducted more than once.

For this list, we're focusing on the very exclusive group of artists that are the Rock Hall's multiple inductees. Some of the artists in this group are obvious, while some might be surprising. Keep scrolling to discovery who's all a multi-inductee and learn some other fun facts, too.

But First, The Latest on the 2024 Rock Hall Class

The 2024 Rock Hall class was announced on April 21 on American Idol. This year's class truly has something for everyone. The inductees include the following:

Performer Category

    Musical Influence Award

(Given to a performing artist or group whose music and performance style have directly influenced and helped inspire and evolve rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture.)

      Musical Excellence Award

        Ahmet Ertegun Award

(Given to non-performing industry professionals who, through their dedicated belief and support of artists and their music have had a major influence on the creative development and growth of rock & roll and music that has impacted youth culture.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 19 at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. As previously reported, the 2024 ceremony will live stream on Disney+. An edited special will air on ABC at a later date, which will be available on Hulu the next day.
