4 Moments We Hope Aren’t Cut/Edited From The Rock Hall Broadcast

Tomorrow night (May 5) will see the premiere of the 2018 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on HBO at 8 PM ET/PT.  The broadcast will run about three hours long, which is significantly less than the ceremonies actual runtime of five hours.

Like most pre-taped events, some moments will end up on the cutting room floor, and in this case, viewers will not see a significant portion of the evening's events.  If we had our way, here are the four moments we wouldn’t cut/edit from the Rock Hall broadcast.

The best performances of the night came from Howard honoring the induction of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Day and Hill honoring the induction of Nina Simone.  They were chill-inducing and brought the house down at Cleveland’s Public Hall and should be shown in their entirety.

The first speech of the night came from “The King of All Media,” and it was absolutely hilarious!  From his surprising performance of “Wanted Dead or Alive” (which ended with Stern yelling “Eat sh*t, Bob Dylan!  F*ck you! That’s music!”) to the metaphorical evisceration of Jann Wenner, we hope the brass at HBO keep everything intact.

The Killers kicked off the ceremony with a performance of “American Girl” in honor of Tom Petty, while Ann Wilson and Jerry Cantrell performed “Black Hole Sun” in honor of Chris Cornell.  Both performances were amazing and hopefully aren’t edited for time.

Let us explain.  It’s not that we want any of the other artist’s speeches/performances to get cut or edited, but the fact that there was no performance from Dire Straits (or anyone paying tribute) and that John Illsley inducted his own band into the Rock Hall, having any part of their portion of the ceremony just doesn’t seem fair.
