Santana Cancels January Vegas Shows After Breaking Finger in Hawaii Fall
An unforeseen injury has forced Carlos Santana, a 10-time Grammy winner, to postpone his upcoming House of Blues Las Vegas shows. At 77, the music legend is in his 13th year performing in Vegas. His regular shows have become a fixture at the intimate venue.
The legendary guitarist broke his pinky finger in a fall at his Kauai, Hawaii, vacation home. The break required a surgical procedure to put pins in his left hand. Doctors expect a full and rapid recovery time, and the guitarist is eager to get back on stage.
“I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai. He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully,” said the Santana Team on Instagram.
Six shows planned for late January at the Mandalay Bay Resort will be pushed back to May 2025. The performances were part of his “An Intimate Evening with Santana: Greatest Hits Live” series. The changed dates—Jan. 22, 23, 25, 26, 29, and 30—will now happen from May 14-25. Fans who bought tickets can keep them for the May shows or get a full refund.
Every ticket sold helps kids in need. Some of the funds go directly to the Milagro Foundation, which Santana and his family set up in 1998.
While the January shows are canceled, his Oneness Tour is still going ahead. The nationwide tour kicks off this April in Highland, California, going until late August 2025.
