The Watchers is being put under the microscope in the latest 'One-Word Movie Review!' What one word would you use to describe the movie?

I've been waiting a while for The Watchers to become available on Max and it finally is! I took some time to watch the movie and will break it down for you using only one word. Let's be honest, movie reviews these days are too lengthy and use too many big words! It's hard to understand what they really thought about the movie while reading through their smoke screen of bad puns, verbose diction, and the critic's air of arrogance. It's too much! So, let's do a One-Word Movie Review for The Watchers!

One-Word Movie Review for The Watchers

Before we get to the One-Word Movie Review and the single word I would use to describe The Watchers, we have to break down the movie a little bit. If you don't want any background on the movie you can scroll right on past all of this to get to the video below. I don't mind and won't be offended.

The Watchers is a thriller from a new director with a very familiar name--Ishana Night Shyamalan--daughter of famous director M. Night Shyamalan, who is the brilliant mind behind hit movies like Signs, The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and more. The Watchers is Ishana's feature directoral debut. She had written and directed some episodes of Servant on Apple TV+. Additionally, she had previously directed second units for her dad's movies Knock at the Cabin and Old. Horror and thrillers are in her blood so I had high expectations going into the movie.

The cast has some star power as well. Dakota Fanning plays the lead role and does a fantastic job. She was perfect in the role. Georgina Campbell, Olwen Fouéré, and Oliver Finnegan also star in The Watchers. The movie follows Dakota Fanning's character, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive forest in Western Ireland where some mythological creatures live who watch the group of people every night through a window. They try to find a way home and all sorts of weird stuff happens.

The movie currently has a 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. That's not great! Usually, that type of score would prevent me from seeing a movie, but I had interest after seeing the trailer. The Critics Consensus on Rotten Tomatoes says, "Heavy on eerie mood but undone by an obtuse script, The Watchers can only hold the gaze for so long before tedium sets in." Do you know what tedium is? I don't. So, let's get to a movie review you can actually understand! Check out my One-Word Movie Review for The Watchers below!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
