How Is Miley Cyrus Suddenly In This Movie?

Tim Burton was actually the first person to cast Miley Cyrus in a movie role, and we didn’t even catch it until now.

So much so that we totally missed the fact that, in addition to other stars who can link their names to it, it is a Miley Cyrus movie. And she wasn't an extra that was easily lost in the background. Her face is front and center in one scene and she even speaks. If you've seen this movie as often as fans have, you might be just as convinced that Miley wasn't always in it. But rather that she was superimposed on a more recent version of the film. No, that's not the case.
The Miley Cyrus Movie Before Hannah Montana
It's more likely that we didn't notice this was a Miley Cyrus movie when it first came out because she wasn't known then. She was only 10 in this film role, according to screenrant.com, and her spotlight didn't first illuminate until three years later when she was cast as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel. If anyone knew of her at this point, it might just have been that they knew she was the child of Billy Ray.

When Miley was just a kid, the world knew her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, from his music. What we didn't know is that there was already a Miley Cyrus movie on the books before this photo was even taken in 2006.
Even those of us who have seen the movie recently might have missed Miley Cyrus on the screen. Which is a testament to the brilliance of John August's screenwriting and Tim Burton's direction. Those two got us so engrossed in the movie that Elvis could probably have resurfaced in the film and we wouldn't have noticed.
Recognizing Miley in the film was made harder by the fact that she was credited under her birth name, Destiny Cyrus, screenrant.com reports. The character she played in the movie was Ruthie, one of the friends of young Edward Bloom. The scene is the where the kids went to the house of the famed witch, played by Helena Bonham Carter. The legend was that by looking into the eye of the witch, they would be able to see how they were going to die.
And now that we've seen the clip of Miley's role in Big Fish, we can't unsee her.
Seeing a Miley Cyrus movie has been much more common after Cyrus gained worldwide fame as Hannah Montana. Her other movies have included Disney's Bolt, LOL, The Last Song and High School Musical 2, according to imdb.com.
So it looks like Big Fish isn't just a Ewan McGregor movie anymore. Now it's a Miley Cyrus movie too. Maybe we'll spend the weekend watching other movies and see who else we might have missed before they were stars.

12 Popular Celebrities Who Have Rocked The Modern Mullet
Celebrities And The Mullet Hairstyle
You've probably heard by now that the mullet has made a comeback in hair fashion in the last few decades. And hopefully you didn't pass out before hearing that it's not the 80s style you're thinking of. I know Billy Ray has become more popular since his kid got so edgy, but he's still not quite that influential. Remember his hair during the "Achy Breaky Heart" days? That's the hair that isn't coming back. Yes, let's all take a moment to rejoice.
The Modern Mullet
What has come back is more of a shag look than a traditional mullet from yesteryear. That had a very severe difference between the really short sides and top of the head compared to the long tail in the back. What celebrities have been rocking in the 2000s is more subtle. Some are doing a bit longer in the back but still keep the top and sides long as well. Some are doing what's really more of a shag look. And I have seen a couple hairdos more similar to what Joan Jett wore in the 80s.
A Hairstyle With Roots In History
There are many versions of the mullet, both old and new. And, according to mulletchamp.com, the hairstyle has actually been around a very long time. Mullet Champ even mentioned that Homer's "Illiad" made a reference to a hairstyle that sounded a lot like the mullet: “their forelocks cropped, hair grown long at the backs.” They also mentioned that back in Greek days, the mullet served a protective purpose. The long hair in back covered up the neck from sun damage, while short hair in front still showed off the face.
Here's another thing you might not know, because I know I didn't. There are names for different mullets. Billy Ray Cyrus, who we can all agree is a mullet expert, breaks them down in this video.
Celebrities Rocking The Modern Mullet
Well I can't argue that resourcefulness, no matter how unattractive I think the mullet can be. But, just like in the 80s, there are some celebrities that have really made the modern version of the mullet work for them. Here are my favorites.
