A video of George Martin talking about meeting The Beatles for the first time has surfaced via the late producer's son, Giles Martin.
Giles shared the clip via Twitter along with the caption, "I don’t normally share anything personal, but this my dad from a while back explaining to my daughter he signed the Beatles. Ordinary people do extraordinary things. Great decisions are made for the simplest reasons. 'I figured if I like them this much other people might too.'"
Martin began by explaining how he, at first, wasn't impressed with the band's name explaining to his granddaughter, "Well, that's a silly name for a start."
Martin also wasn't really impressed with the band's music saying, "It was okay, but it wasn't brilliant. It was okay. I thought, "Why should I be interested in them?' But the magic bit came when I started to get to know them, because they were terribly good people. They were funny, they were very clever...They were the kind of people you'd like to be with. So, I thought, 'If I feel this way about them, other people will feel this way about them.' So, therefore, they should be very popular."
