Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman is speaking out after Governor Steve Sisolak ordered a shutdown of all non-essential businesses in the state. In an address to Las Vegas City Council members, the mayor made it clear the city is to follow the national mandate of President Trump and the statewide mandate from Governor Sisolak. She also said she wants the city to remain open for business.
Mayor Goodman made comments sensitive to those who she says, “can’t handle a shutdown because they live paycheck to paycheck.” She talked about the hospitality industry and mom and pop shops that can't survive a lengthy shutdown and asked the Governor to consider shortening the 30-day shutdown.
