Roger Daltrey Not Interested in Performing at Woodstock 50th Anniversary Festivals

One of the more interesting developing stories so far in 2019 involves honoring the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, but you won’t catch Roger Daltrey at either of those events.

The Who, of course, performed at the original Woodstock in 1969, but in a new interview with Billboard, Daltrey made clear he had no interest in performing saying, “August in America is too hot for me to work anymore...You can't redo Woodstock because the stars of Woodstock were the audience. You can celebrate the date, but you can't redo (the festival). Nobody's approached us about it, anyway, but I really wouldn't be interested in something like that.”

So far, there are two events planned to honor Woodstock’s 50th anniversary:  The Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival taking place August 16-18 on the grounds of the original Woodstock and another festival organized by Michael Lang, producer and co-creator of the original Woodstock.  Land said in a statement, “While the original site in Bethel remains close to our hearts, it simply doesn’t have the capacity to host our official Woodstock 50 celebration.  We’ll soon be announcing a new location that can handle all the peace, love and music we’ve got planned. Stay tuned.”
