Bruce Springsteen Reportedly Selling His Music, Publishing Catalog

Bruce Springsteen might be the next high-profile musician to sell off their music and publishing catalog, and the price tag of the deal will likely be huge.

Per Billboard, Springsteen is in negotiations with Sony Music to sell off his album catalog. The outlet noted, "While it is unknown what the asking price is for Sony to acquire complete ownership of his masters -- which could mean no longer paying royalties to Springsteen depending on how the deal is structured -- 'Billboard' estimates that the albums carry a valuation of between $145 million and $190 million."

On top of that, Springsteen is also reportedly in talks to sell off his publishing catalog, which could net The Boss an additional payday of up to $350 million.

Springsteen would become the latest artist to sell his catalog in recent years. In October, Tina Turner brokered a major deal with Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG) to sell her recordings, publishing rights and other properties for reportedly over $50 million. In August, Aerosmith struck a deal with Universal Music Group (UMG) that includes their entire musical catalog and personal archives. In May, Red Hot Chili Peppers sold their catalog to Hipgnosis Songs for between $140 million and $150 million. In December 2020, Bob Dylan sold his entire songwriting catalog to Universal Music Publishing Group for a reported $300 million.
