If you had to guess which of the 25 most populous cities in the U.S.A. were considered the funniest cities in America, would you put Las Vegas in the top five? How would you even rank the funniest cities?

Well, ShinySmileVeneers.com has released findings in a new study which ranks the funniest cities in the nation. Their findings were not based on how funny a city’s residents are, but rather on how many comedy clubs there are per capita (40 points), how many comedy festivals a city hosts (30 points), how many movie and television comedy specials have been filmed in a city (20 points), and internet search volume for comedy specials, clubs and festivals per capita (10 points).

If the study had been based on which city has the funniest residents, I’m sure Las Vegas would have topped the list, right? However, in this particular study, we ranked at #13. In the state rankings, Nevada came in at #23. However, Sin City did score in the top three for most comedy clubs per capita along with Boston and Los Angeles.

This study ranked the funniest states:  Massachusetts at #1, New York in second, Illinois ranks third, and believe it or not Alaska and Ohio are tied for fourth. Just for “laughs,” which are the least funny states in the U.S. according to the ShinySmileVeneers.com study? North Dakota ranks at #50, followed by Wyoming at #49, with Arkansas and Alabama tied at #47.
