Stevie Nicks On Daisy Jones & The Six:
"Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn't really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story," Nicks posted on Instagram and Twitter. Riley Keough (Pricilla Presley's daughter) plays Daisy Jones in the Amazon Prime series.
Stevie added, "It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine (McVie) could have seen it. She would have loved it. Hopefully it will continue..."
Did Fleetwod Mac Really Inspire The Series?
The Emmy-nominated limited series came out on Amazon Prime earlier this year. As I watched the series myself, I felt that Fleetwood Mac vibe.
The show is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid's 2019 novel of the same name. Reid lists Fleetwood Mac, other 1970s rock bands and artist as her inspiration for the series,.
"Daisy Jones & The Six" tells a story of a fictional rock band in the '70s that implodes after rising out of obscurity.
In an interview in 2019, Reid told Penguin Books UK, "I started with listening to 'Rumours.' That was the beginning of it for me because it's an album — and this is something that so many people have said — but it's also a soap opera."
"The stories going on between Stevie and Lindsey (Buckingham) and the things that were going on between Christine McVie and John McVie are really fascinating, and they show in the music. So I started there."
Stevie Nicks Seal Of Approval:
"Daisy Jones and the Six" actors Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse and Camila Morrone responded to Nicks' post with delight. Keough, Waterhouse and Morrone individually reacted with strings of emojis.
Reese Witherspoon commented, "Oh my stars , Stevie ! This means the world to the whole @daisyjonesandthesix team! Thank YOU for cutting the path!" Witherspoon's company, Hello Sunshine, produced the series.
With the writers strike still going on, there aren't a lot of NEW shows on the horizon, but Daisy Jones & the Six is definitely one to watch!
Here are some others shows and documentaries I've taken in over the summer, that I think you might enjoy!
Bad Sisters
"Bad Sisters," is a hilariously dark comedy. Their brother-in-law winds up dead, and they all had a motive -- but who did it?
Shrinking
"Shrinking" was such a quiet, and enjoyable, surprise! I have a new love for Harrison Ford after watching this series and can only hope he does more comedy!
Facing Nolan
If you're a baseball fan, "Facing Nolan" a great documentary! He was a beast of a pitcher for 27 years. It's fun to watch the old games, and listen to him, his teammates, and opponents, talk about such specifics. Very, very enjoyable!
Suits
"Suits" is one to watch again and from the beginning. It was a great show, easy-on-the-eyes cast, which includes a future Princess. It follows Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who uses his photographic memory to talk his way into a job as an associate working for successful "closer" attorney, Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) despite being a college dropout who never went to law school.
WHAM!
"WHAM" is the story of the power pop duo from their early days to their split. But at its core, the movie is really about something more interesting and much more relatable. It’s about two friends chasing their dream. It features George Michael and Andrew Ridley actually narrating the documentary.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
"Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story" is phenomenal! I love "Bridgerton," but this short installment was exceptional! It’s explained in the very beginning of the first episode that “it is not a history lesson. It is fiction inspired by fact. All liberties taken by the author are quite intentional.” It's funny, touching, and there is indeed some history to this short series.
Winning TIme: The Rise of The Lakers
"Winning TIme: The Rise of The Lakers," is on to season two now. If you haven't seen it, start watching! Everyone in it is great -- especially John C. Reilly. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he kills it playing Jerry Buss, the Lakers owner in their '80s heyday.
