Sadly for working mothers, Nevada is not the place to be.

Not only is Nevada not a great state for employment for working moms, but it also has some of the highest child care costs in the United States, which doesn't help.

According to Wallet Hub, on the list on best and worst states for working mothers, NEVADA comes in at number 43. No - not great. Work - life balance? Nevada ranks number 46.

Women make up nearly half of the U.S. workforce, and 73% of moms with children under age 18 were working in 2022. Working moms still face an uphill battle in the workplace, though. Their average hourly wage is still less than what men make - only 82% of what men make, to be exact. And only 8.2% of S&P 500 companies’ chief executives are women.

The obvious inequality brings up not just financial questions but also deeply ingrained social issues. For instance, should women have to choose between career and family?

The real question, though, is what we’re doing about these fundamental problems? Progress is happening, but at different rates across the country. Not only do parental leave policies and other legal support systems vary by state, but the quality of infrastructure — from cost-effective day care to public schools — is far from uniform as well.

In order to help ease the burden on an underappreciated segment of the population, Wallet Hub compared state dynamics across 17 key metrics to identify the Best & Worst States for Working Moms. Take a look at the full breakdown here.

And take a look below at America's favorite moms, according to a recent poll by SWNS Digital.
