The Las Vegas Desert Dogs is the professional Box Lacrosse hockey team that play their home games at the Michelob Ultra Arena. The other morning. CEO Mark Fine talks about the clubs first win, owner Wayne Gretzky and more! It’s been an uphill climb, but this past weekend the Desert Dogs posted a 15-14 win over Vancouver.
The Mike & Carla Morning Show got a hold of CEO Mark Fine to talk a little Box Lacrosse about the win and what a HUGE step it was in the right direction. Mark also talked about the owners’ group that includes the “Great One” Wayne Gretzky. It was delightful to discuss Gretzky’s ties to box lacrosse and how the famous number 99 — one of the greatest hockey players of all time — loves the game. Former NBA all-star Steve Nash is also an owner.
Mark also talks about being accepted into the Las Vegas sports landscape, the fans and, more importantly, the team. He also mentions the latest “bench clearing brawl” and how the fans just love it!
He also mentions that the games are only on Friday and Saturday. Home games are played at Mandalay Bay and each game, whether at home or away, can be watched on TV!
It’s great family fun, and the game is right here in Las Vegas! Just as the sport has grown in our town, fans are starting to wrap their head that Las Vegas actually has a professional lacrosse team! Listen, Las Vegas is becoming quite the sport mecca on a major and minor league level! With soccer here in town, why not lacrosse?
We invite you to take a couple of minutes to listen to Mark, feel he’s excitement for the sport. Hopefully we’ll see you at the next home game on Feb. 4 with Colorado and with a 7:30pm start.
