Next time you get a speeding ticket, blame your parents for your bad driving!

Nevada is supposedly famous for bad driving - thanks Mom and Dad!

A poll of 1000 people found that people who don't follow the rules of the road are much more likely to have parents who don't either.  Yes - their parents were crappy drivers too. If your mom or dad did things like speed, or roll through stop signs, there's a much higher chance you do it too.

Bad drivers, the top bad driving habit we inherit from our parents is speeding.

We've all done it - until we get that first speeding ticket. Or that second one. Which will eventually make you think twice before hitting the gas next time. Mostly because of the inconvenience of trying to pay the ticket, online - which they said would be simple, but it didn't work. Or maybe you decided to go to court, and be your own bigshot lawyer, and fight it. Only to have them drop the fine a few bucks - and you lost a days pay, too...

We get good habits from our parents too. The top good habit that mom and dad passed down is always using turn signals.

Two-thirds of people who admit to dangerous driving say they were raised by parents who were also bad drivers. People in that group were three times more likely to have been pulled over in the past 10 year - and three times more likely to have points on their license.

Bad driving may be hereditary but, unfortunately, you can't use that in court!

Here are some of the bad habits parents are most likely to pass down:

1.  Speeding.  Most people who speed say their parents did too.

2.  Road rage. Oooooh, not good! Step back, take a breath.

3.  Poor spatial awareness - like drifting into other lanes.

4.  Being a bad parallel parker. Learn people, learn! It's not that hard.

5.  Sudden moves - like cutting people off.

Here's are the top GOOD driving habits we inherit from mom and dad -

1.  Always using turn signals.  46% who do it say they learned from their parents

Most who do it say they learned from seeing their parents use them!

2. Staying calm behind the wheel

If mom and dad kept their cool, chances are you will too. Instead of yelling and screaming, and giving the finger, just wave to them. That what my mom taught me. It throws them completely off - they now think they know you, and they're all confused!

3.  Driving the speed limit

Yeah, I know it's hard. But everyone's time - and life - is valuable, not just yours!

4.  Moving over, so other cars can pass

Move over, and stay in the slow lane, if you're a slower driver.

5.  Letting people merge

Merging is so misunderstood - but it's a must.
